Airports

What is the nearest airport to the house?
The house is located between 2 airports.

Luis Munoz Marin Airport in San Juan is approximately 78km from the house. It takes about 45-65 depending on the traffic. Boringuen Airport in Aguadilla is 66km from the house.  It takes about 57 minutes. (It is a local road)

Can I land a private aircraft nearby?

Yes. Arecibo's Airport is only 20 minutes from the house and they allow private aircrafts to land there.  ( For more information go to Locations page, item 16).

Exact Location

Where exactly is the house located in Arecibo?
Right on the Atlantic Ocean coast. On road 681, between Arecibo and Barceloneta, but we will be sending you all that information, maps and detailed directions via e-mail.

Will the house be a little uncomfortable for  more than 5 people?

We have room for up to 5 guests.  There are three beds and one futon.

Could I rent for three nights only?

Yes, as a matter of fact, you can rent this property for a couple of nights (3 minimum) to enjoy the area and to take advantage of the privacy and peacefulness of this beach. Enjoy the local attractions with out having to drive for more than an hour and then you could move on to the other side of the island, and stay in places like Vieques, Culebra, Boqueron, Caguas or Rio Grande and enjoy the attractions there.

Transportation

Do you provide transportation?

No, we don't.

Is public transportation available?
There are taxis available at the airports. It depends where you are coming from and at what time of the day.
.
Should I rent a car?
By all means. Puerto Rico is a big island, and you will have the advantage to move around freely and at your own pace.

Can I rent a car at the airport?
Yes. There are many famous car rental chains located at most airports. Try to make reservations in advance.

Shopping and Medical Services in the Area.

Are there grocery stores, restaurants, and  hospitals nearby?

Yes, even though it is a very private and somewhat secluded place, all of the basic services are located within minutes from the house. We will also send you more information and directions regarding supermarkets, malls, hospitals, restaurants, etc.  Also, if you have a special interest that you would like to inquire about, let's say... golf courses in the area for example, let us know when you sign your contract. We would try to get the information for you.

Things to do

Are there other leasure activities in that  area?

It depends on each person's likes. You will find some nearby attractions on the Locations page. These are some of the things you could do around the area:  Beachcombing, hiking-walking (on the beach and in a nearby rural path), cycling, star gazing, horse riding, outlet and arts & crafts shopping, swimming, sight-seeing, fishing, jogging, bird watching, resting in a hammock, observing the nature and the ocean, visiting galleries and museums, eating out in nearby restaurants (there are all kinds of restaurants from fast food to typical local food restaurants), playing table games or just lying on the sand or on the deck near the pool.

Is this a party house?

No. This house is not intended for throwing parties of any kind with the exception of a small private reunion or gathering that the people that have checked in decide to do on their own with no outsiders. Keep in mind that this is a very quiet and peaceful place away from it all, but we do have next door neighbors.

 Sight Seeing Details, etc.

Where exactly are the rock formations?

Behind the house we have a big cliff and there are some rock formations to the left at about 300 feet. When the surf is high they turn into waterfalls and a small natural shallow lagoon forms near them. Quite a show for nature lovers. (Check our Premium Photo Gallery)

How secluded is this place?

The oceanfront behind the house is mostly isolated from the other beaches because of the cliffs and the rocks. There is still a five mile strech of coast to explore.

The house is not that secluded, all the services you may need are nearby. A fifteen minute drive will connect you with the world again.

How deep are the shallow lagoons behind the house?

When the surf is hight, shallow lagoons are formed behind the rock formations sometimes even creating water falls. (See pictures and videos on this site.) The deepest part of the these lagoons is about three feet deep.

When the surf is low the lagoons dry up and tiny little sea shells are exposed. It takes a couple of days and a good surf for the lagoons to fill up again.

The lagoon behind the house is the smallest one. There is another one if you walk for about 10 minutes to the left of the house.

Do you have any recommendations for kayak rentals or specific places to go if we wanted to take a trip to the bioluminescent bay?  We also would like to do something in the Yunque forest of course -- we have heard that there are places that can take you high above the canopy - any recommendations you have would be much welcomed!

My friends at http://www.puertoricodaytrips.com/  suggest the following for the biobay:

If people can afford the cost ($109/person) and the time (approx 5pm - 11pm), they should take the East Island Excursion trip from Fajardo to Vieques (and back again in the same night). http://www.puertoricodaytrips.com/eastwind-vieques-biobay/

Otherwise, you should kayak or take the new electric boat into the biobay in Fajardo.

They are partial to "Kayaking Puerto Rico" as a company. They're good guys.

kayaking: http://www.puertoricodaytrips.com/fajardo-bio-bay/

La Parguera may be closer than Fajardo though the biobay is NOT REALLY THAT GOOD anymore

Regarding tours that take you "high above the canopy" in El Yunque ...

They don't really know what you're talking about. There are some zipline tours that take you in the treetops ... but not really above the canopy.

The closest one to El Yunque is http://www.puertoricodaytrips.com/yunke-zipline/

There's one closer to AOP in San Juan (in Guaynabo) ... http://www.puertoricodaytrips.com/marquesa-original-canopy-tour/
